I know I haven't updated much lately...being a newly wed makes life kind of busy in a lot of strange ways.
I have spent the weeks since coming home from our honeymoon getting my new social security card so I can change my name, getting a new drivers license AND more importantly racing license and obtaining cheaper car insurance because I am 25 years old and married.
Being that today marks our "one month anniversary" of being married, I thought it would be appropriate to mention some of the more fun parts of being married...life is always harder for the females, I swear!
So in between all the joys of wedded bliss and rearranging my life, our first race came up on April 25-26 at Richmond Dragway.
Lucky for us, we were driving to Virginia from Pennsylvania so we got to experience the wonders of the beltway, rush hour traffic and a tornado watch while driving a 75' long 13' high truck and trailer. But in all seriousness, we did luck out that the only rainy day was Friday, which was only scheduled to be a test & tune. The rest of the weekend's weather was beautiful, and as usual better than that in Pa...
For me, the only good thing about the weekend was the weather unfortunately.
I drove better than I have in such a long time that it was really hard for me to take a first round loss on both Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes I have a strong love-hate relationship with this sport and sadly for me, I really hated drag racing this weekend.
I was so happy to see Andy do well his first time out in Quick Rod, an 8.90 index class that in my opinion looks more fun than Top Dragster. He made it down to 3 cars Saturday before red lighting -.006. Unfortunately he red lit Sunday first round -.008 for the first round loss as well.
It wasn't the best weekend out, but it was a strong start for Andy who is currently 7th in points. We need to place in the top 3 in our division to qualify for World Finals in October.
Our next stop is Bristol Tennessee for the Spring Fling, one of the biggest big money bracket races in the country. We are hoping to do some serious damage there, and I will hopefully be better about updating in the future!
