This past weekend was the Monster Mopar event at KilKare Dragway in Xenia, Ohio. Despite a chance of rain both Saturday and Sunday, both days ended up being decent and both races were completed.
This was our first time traveling to KilKare, and I didn't really know what to expect. But after being there, I will say it is one of the nicest track surfaces I have ever been on. The track is huge, with plenty of space and it is all flat! The roads are all paved and there are very minimal rocks. The entire staff at KilKare is so friendly and welcoming, the guys who prep the track even let us walk it and showed us how they do their track prep.
The car show was nice. I finally got to see a purple Charger for the first time. I think they look pretty badass!
Even though the threat of rain seemed to scare a lot of people away, the people who did attend got to enjoy 3 time trials Saturday. After Andy and I both got through first round, we raced second round with a lot of wind picking up, carrying the rain clouds in. The rest of the day was cancelled, leaving just Andy to race third round Sunday morning.
Unfortunately Andy lost third round so we had to wait for the event to get finished before we could begin Sundays race. The humidity was terrible (between 70-90%) and temps in the high 80's. We got one time trial before Andy and I both succumbed to the heat and lost first round.
All in all we had a really enjoyable weekend, despite not going too many rounds. We are looking forward to more Mopar races in the future after having such a nice time at this one!
